September 2010 Dear friend Happy happy happy happier happier and happier and the happiest ever SPRING DAY! How can a person not love spring? I find it absolutely amazing every year when my garden comes back to life. I forget over winter how wonderful, colourful and fragrant the garden is in summer and I get so excited to see all the flowers and plants come back again. So, spring is very inspiring. I just had to think up wonderful things to do to celebrate spring. I loved making the new soap flowers, they are quick and easy and I hope you love them too. I have just brought in a wonderful range of dried herbs and flowers. I used the lavender, jasmine, marigold, lemon grass and spearmint in the bath salts seen above. I used the glorious patchouli in the fizzing bath teas, also seen above. I wasn't quite a hippy in the hippy era (a bit young at the time for that) but I do remember patchouli oil from the '70's. Up until now I had never come across the real thing and I have to say that the smell of the dried patchouli flowers is better even than the oil I remember. As for the lavender - you won't believe it but the entire box (75g) is filled only with the blossoms! What! How on earth do they get so many lavender flowers. I think each box of lavender must be the harvest of an entire farm. So, I am raving about the new herbs... but for good reason. Each one has wonderful properties, most of them I have chosen have excellent skin healing properties and are fabulous to add to your bath products. Make some soap cocktails this spring for all your friends. Load them with fragrance because they are sure to keep them in their bathrooms. They are fun and funky and fragrant! I brought in three new perfumes this month and can't seem to get enough of them either. I will be sending you loads of recipes in the next few months in which to use the perfumes. They are going to make the very very very best Christmas gifts. They are all exact copies of the originals - Fantasy (Soap Barn - Fantasies), Armani Code (Soap Barn Codes) and Black Xcess (Soap Barn Midnight). I made some perfume (50ml Fanatsies with 500ml spraying alcohol) and I promise you that you spray it on in the morning and you can still smell it on you when you get home in the evening. It is unbelievable! I probably have a million other things to chat about but it is getting late and a girl needs her beauty sleep! Chomsky is already in his bed (In the cupboard! I swear I have nothing to do with his choice of sleeping space) and if a gorgeous, magnificent animal like Chomsky needs his beauty sleep... Have a wonderful, happy, lively, active and creative September. The sun is shining, the daffodils are flowering and our bones are thawing! Lots of love from Jackie and the sleeping Chomsky |
