Cup of Coffee and a Chat...

February 2010

Dear Friend

Hello hello hello hello hello! Welcome back to the bright, colourful, fun, fabulous and creative Soap Barn and Chocolate Den E-Mag. During the month I think of a million things I need to mention in my letter and guess what? As soon as I sit down to chat with you all the important stuff goes out my head. These days my head is all over the place anyway. I am so busy-busy-busy running around - creating new products (stunning tea bags this month!), serving customers, sending mail orders, preparing the E-Mag and getting ready for Hobby-X! I can start off at 4am and finish at 8pm and still not get half the things done I need to do. I am hoping that once Hobby-X is over life will slow down to a normal 180km an hour!

So let's not talk about the rain. Okay? Let's talk about Hobby-X (starts 4th of March I think...) This year I am taking Diffuser Reed Starter Kits. They will be R100 each and will contain everything to make up two room diffusers. I will be taking 15 different kits - some of which are: Apple and Lemon (very popular), Lemon and Vanilla (my new favourite - just stunning!), Fenjal and Forest Fern (selling like a bomb! Funny phrase that - 'selling like a bomb'. What's that about? Do bombs sell well?), Rose and Grapefruit (also very popular - someone came in and loved them so much she is doing one for each table at her wedding - big wedding too - 50 tables!), Rose and Sandalwood (the old traditional favourite), Orange and Amber (citrus and spice - gorgeous!), Lavender and Rose (need I say anything?), Strawberry and White Tea Flower (my new invention yesterday - absolutely and totally heavenly), Mango and Papaya (in my office, helps me think I am on a tropical island - really yummy) and more...

For the moment we won't have kits available to sell in the shop (too busy killing ourselves trying to make up the stock for the show) but as soon as Hobby-X is over we will be keeping all of the kits in stock in the shop.

Each kit will have: Two glass bottles, ten reeds, two fragrances, one colouring, 100ml diffuser base and an instruction sheet.

So much for diffusers - which are selling selling selling fast - so fast that I had to quickly order another batch from the US. On the subject of fragrances though I have to tell you about my AMAZING 'French Vanilla' fragrance. I only got in 10kg of this unbelievable fragrance. It is loaded with natural vanillin and when you smell it you think you have died and gone to cookie heaven. I cannot tell you enough times and there are not enough words to describe how absolutely divine it is. I am telling you this because I got in 10kg and cannot ever get more of it. It was a once-off special which I was very lucky to be offered. One customer has taken 3kg and I have sold at least another 2kg. This means I only have about 5kg left. It is R85 for 100ml and if you love vanilla you had better get in fast before I am sold out. Please be warned that once it is gone - it is gone.

Lets talk about my newest most exciting project - bath teas! They are fabulous! Finally you can put lavender and rose petals in you bath without having bits floating around and sticking to you. I think there are such amazing herbal combinations to make for your bath. Above you have seen my lavender bath herb tea but you can go to the website: www.soapbarn.co.za to see step-by-step method of rose bath herb tea, mint bath herb tea and lemon verbena bath herb tea. I think that mixing rose with honeybush tea or rooibos tea would also be stunning! I just haven't had a chance to try them yet.

And as for the magic fruity bath teas! I am not going to try sell them to you. You just need to make one and try it - and you will be sold! I know the water is really only just coloured and fragranced but bathing in it you feel totally transported. Seriously!

Okay, enough chatting for today I have hundreds of starter kits to go pack!

Love from Jackie and Chomsky (all curled up on his blanket next to me)
