How to Make Bath Bombs
9 June 2026Two-tone layered soap looks professional and is surprisingly easy with a melt and pour base. An easy recipe from The Soap Barn using simple soap making supplies.
What you will need
- Glycerine soap base
- Two soap colours
- Soap fragrance
- A soap mould
- Spraying alcohol
All available from our soap making supplies.
Method
- Melt the soap base and divide it into two, colouring each batch a different colour.
- Pour the first colour into your mould and let it firm up but stay slightly tacky on top.
- Spritz the top with spraying alcohol (this helps the layers bond), then gently pour the second colour on top.
- Leave to set fully, then un-mould your two-tone bar.

Tips & variations
Once you have made your layered soap, here are a few ways to get a great result and make it your own.
- Let each layer skin over before pouring the next so they bond without bleeding.
- Spritz between layers with alcohol to help them stick.
- Let bars firm up fully, then wrap them so the glycerine does not draw moisture from the air.
Make it your own: swap the colour, fragrance or botanicals, or try a different mould for a whole new look.
