How to Make a Solid Perfume

Pretty heart and rose shaped soaps in cherry-scented red, gorgeous for Valentine’s or gifting.
What you will need
- White farmhouse soap
- Cherry fragrance
- Red liquid colouring
- Heart cookie cutters
- Kebab sticks
- PVC boxes for packaging
Method
- Gently melt the white farmhouse soap (low heat or microwave on defrost).
- Colour it red and stir in the cherry fragrance.
- For hearts: pour a thin layer into a tray, let it firm slightly, then cut out hearts with the cookie cutter.
- For roses: while the soap is still soft and pliable, shape thin pieces into petals and wrap them around a centre.
- Leave to set, then pack into PVC boxes.

Tips & variations
Once you have made your heart and rose soaps, here are a few ways to get a great result and make it your own.
- Use a soap-safe fragrance within the recommended rate so it pours and sets well.
- Pick a flexible silicone mould, it makes unmoulding much easier.
- Melt glycerine soap gently in short bursts so it does not overheat or form a skin.
Make it your own: swap the colour, fragrance or botanicals, or try a different mould for a whole new look.
