Magnesium hydroxide (also known as milk of magnesia) is a popular alternative to bicarbonate of soda in DIY natural deodorant recipes. It works by gently raising the skin’s surface pH just enough to help keep odour in check, without clogging pores or irritating sensitive skin.

Blend into your favourite natural deodorant base along with arrowroot powder, coconut oil and a few drops of essential oil for a gentle, effective formula you can make at home.
