How to Make a Cleopatra Linen Spray

A lime-coloured reed diffuser scented with citronella, pretty on a table and great for keeping mosquitoes at bay.
What you will need
- Rattan reeds
- 50ml citronella essential oil
- 100ml diffuser oil base
- Yellow and green liquid colour
- 150ml glass bottle
Method
- Combine the citronella essential oil and the diffuser oil base and mix very well.
- Add a little yellow and green colouring to make a lime shade.
- Pour the oil into the glass bottle and add the rattan reeds.
- The reeds draw up the oil and release the scent. Flip them over every few days to refresh the fragrance.

Tips & variations
Once you have made your citronella reed diffuser, here are a few ways to get a great result and make it your own.
- Flip the reeds every few days to refresh the scent throw.
- Use more reeds for a bigger room and fewer for a small one.
- Label each batch with the date and fragrance so you remember your favourites.
Make it your own: blend two fragrances, or adjust the strength to suit the size of the room.
