Baking Soda
Baking soda, also sold as bicarbonate of soda. Paired with citric acid it is the fizz in a bath bomb, and on its own it is one of the most useful powders on a maker’s shelf.
Bath bombs. The usual starting ratio is two parts baking soda to one part citric acid by weight. Keep everything dry, work in a dry room, and add liquid a spray at a time. Too much moisture sets the fizz off early and the mixture will start rising in the bowl.
Other uses. Bath salts and soaks, gentle scrubbing pastes, deodorant makes, general cleaning and craft projects.
Storage. Airtight and dry. It draws moisture from the air, which is what makes a bath bomb batch fail weeks later.
Available in 1kg, 5kg and 25kg. Try it in our bath bomb method.
