A rustic sand and ice lantern with a gorgeous textured, glowing finish, a real showpiece. This easy recipe from The Soap Barn uses simple candle making supplies.
What you will need
- Candle wax
- Candle wick
- Gold powder colouring
- A big bucket and a smaller bucket
- Sand and ice
- White tapered candles

Method
- Fill the big bucket with soft sand and press the smaller bucket into it to create your candle shape, then remove it.
- Place a white tapered candle in the middle of the sand shape and pack ice cubes around it.
- Melt your wax and pour it over the ice to fill the sand shape.
- Once set, lift the candle out and stand it in the basin while the ice melts off. Trim the base, dust with gold powder and light.
