Castor Oil – Cold Pressed (Hexane Free)

Cold-pressed, hexane-free castor oil, thick and glossy, and naturally high in ricinoleic acid. A little goes a long way. Botanical name Ricinus communis.

In soap. Castor oil is the classic lather booster. Soap makers usually use it as a small part of the oil blend rather than a main oil, because too much of it makes a soft, sticky bar.

In balms and hair makes. It adds shine and slip, and its thickness helps a balm hold its shape. Blend it with a lighter carrier such as sweet almond oil if you want it easier to spread.

Working with it. It is noticeably thicker than most carrier oils, so stand the bottle in warm water if it is being stubborn to pour, and measure by weight for accuracy.
