Witch Hazel

Witch hazel, a gentle plant-based toner and astringent base for facial mists, after-shave splashes and skincare makes. Refreshing and versatile. Use neat or blend into your recipes. Botanical name: Hamamelis virginiana.

How makers use it. As a simple toner on a cotton pad, as the base of a facial mist or after-shave splash, and as the liquid in lotions, creams and body sprays. It blends well with aloe, floral waters and a few drops of essential oil for a toner that is entirely your own.

Making a facial mist. Fill a clean spray bottle with witch hazel, add your chosen extras and shake well before each use.

Good to know. Do a patch test before using on your face, especially if your skin is sensitive. Keep the bottle tightly closed in a cool place away from direct sunlight. Anything you mix with water or aloe needs a preservative if you plan to keep it for more than a few days or sell it.
