Emulsifying Wax

Emulsifying wax, the ingredient that lets oil and water stay mixed. Without an emulsifier a lotion separates back into layers within hours, so this is the piece that turns oils and water into a stable cream.

How to use it. Melt it into your heated oil phase until fully dissolved, heat your water phase to roughly the same temperature, then combine the two and blend until the mixture thickens and cools. Add heat-sensitive extras such as fragrance once it has cooled down.

What to make. Body lotions, hand creams, facial moisturisers, conditioners, and any make where oil and water need to stay together.

Good to know. Anything containing water needs a preservative if you are keeping it for more than a few days.

Available in 500g and 5kg. Try it in our hand lotion method.
