Shea Butter – Refined

Refined shea butter, smooth, creamy and mild in scent. Refining takes out the nutty smell and colour of raw shea, so it blends into a formulation without changing how the finished make smells or looks. Botanical name Vitellaria paradoxa.

What to make. Body butters, lotion bars, lip balms, massage bars, whipped butters, and cold process or melt and pour soap.

Working with it. It softens at body temperature, so melt gently and do not overheat. Cooling too slowly can leave a grainy texture, so once melted, cool it quickly in a cold water bath or the fridge before whipping. If a batch does go grainy, remelt fully and cool fast.

Storage. Sealed, cool and out of direct sunlight.
