Lotion Base (Unfragranced)

An unfragranced lotion base for making your own lotion. Add your fragrance, decant, label, done. It is the quickest route to a custom lotion without formulating from raw oils and an emulsifier.

How to mix. Melt the base in the microwave very gently, then pour it into a mixing bowl. Add 1500ml to 2000ml of hot running water at about bath temperature and stir well until blended. Leave to cool, stirring every now and then. You can add glycerine or other oils to the mixture if you like.

Tips. Stir rather than whisk, so you do not beat in air. Add fragrance once the mixture has cooled, since heat drives scent off. The lotion thickens as it cools, so judge the final texture cold rather than warm.

What to make. Body lotion, hand lotion, after-sun and massage lotions, and matching sets alongside a bath or shower product.
