How to Make Herbal Soaps

Natural-look glycerine soap bars decorated with dried herbs, jasmine, marigold, rooibos and orange peel. What you will need White glycerine soap Orange fragrance Soap glaze for decoupage Dried jasmine Dried marigold Rooibos tea leaves Orange peel Method Melt the glycerine soap gently and stir in the orange fragrance. Pour into a mould and leave to set, then slice into bars. Brush soap glaze onto each bar and press on the dried jasmine, marigold, rooibos and orange peel to decorate. How to Make Decoupage Soaps

Turn plain glycerine soap into pretty decorated bars using decoupage paper and soap glaze. What you will need White glycerine soap Lemon fragrance Soap glaze for decoupage Decoupage sheets or wrapping paper Glitter RBS square natural box Tin foil Method Line the RBS square box with tin foil. Melt the glycerine soap gently (low heat on the stove or on defrost in the microwave). Add the lemon fragrance and leave until a skin forms on top, that is the right pouring temperature. How to Make Citronella Soap Balls

Mosquito-repelling soap balls rolled in dried lemongrass, pretty and practical for summer evenings. What you will need 1kg white unfragranced farmhouse soap 1kg white soap noodles Citronella essential oil Dried lemongrass Paper roses Organza ribbon Large white paper cups Method Put a handful of soap noodles into a small bowl. Gently melt the farmhouse soap in the microwave or on the stove, then add 20ml citronella essential oil and mix well. Add a cup of the melted soap to a cup of noodles (just enough to cover them) and stir to a thick porridge consistency. Roll the mixture into a ball, then roll the warm ball in dried lemongrass. How to Make Chunky Heart Soaps

Pretty melt-and-pour soap bars with a red heart set inside creamy white soap, lovely for gifts. What you will need 2kg red strawberry glycerine soap 2kg white farmhouse soap 20ml cherry fragrance A roasting pan Heart cookie cutter Method Cut the red glycerine soap into 1cm slices and cut a heart out of each slice with the cookie cutter. Press the hearts firmly onto the bottom of the roasting pan (turn the pan upside down to check they hold, any that fall out need pressing down again). How to Make a Cinnamon and Vanilla Body Butter Candle

A cosy soy candle in a teacup, scented with cinnamon and vanilla. It doubles as a body butter candle, the warm melted wax is lovely on the skin. What you will need 350g soy wax Vanilla fragrance Cinnamon fragrance Candle wick A teacup and saucer Method Melt the soy wax in the microwave for three to five minutes. Once melted, add 10ml vanilla fragrance and three drops of cinnamon fragrance. Position the wick in the middle of the cup, holding it upright with kebab sticks on either side. How to Make a Lemon Grass Foot Scrub

A nourishing, tingling foot scrub with shea butter, almond oil and real lemon grass to soften and revive tired feet. What you will need 100ml shea butter 100ml sweet almond oil Fine salt Lemon grass fragrance Dried lemon grass herb Jars Wooden scoop Method Gently melt the shea butter in the microwave for about 1 minute. Pour into a glass bowl and add the sweet almond oil, lemon grass fragrance and a handful of dried lemon grass herb. Stir in the fine salt, mixing thoroughly until you have a thick paste (it must not be runny). Spoon into your jars and add a wooden scoop. A whipped, two-tone body butter in zesty orange and lemon, beautifully presented in a natural box. What you will need 100ml urea 100ml glycerine 500ml aqueous cream 125g cocoa butter 100ml shea butter Lemon fragrance Orange fragrance Orange and lemon liquid soap colouring RBS round natural box A little candle wax (to seal the box) Method The natural box is porous, so seal it first: gently melt a little candle wax and brush it over the inside. How to Make an Orange and Lemon Candle

Pretty flower-shaped dipped candles in zesty orange and lemon colours, a lovely handmade gift. What you will need White powder candle wax Pre-waxed wicks with sustainers Flower cookie cutter Baking tray and tin foil Kebab sticks Candle dyes or wax crayons (orange and lemon) Method Gently melt the wax and pour it into a foil-lined baking tray. Leave to cool until almost set (still warm, not hard). Cut flower shapes from the wax with the cookie cutter and make a hole through each with a kebab stick. Leave to set completely. Separate the flowers and thread a pre-waxed wick through each. Fill a small tin with melted wax, add an orange or lemon dye or crayon and stir until coloured.
