Method

Melt your wax gently and pour it into a foil-lined baking tray.
When the wax is almost set (still warm), cut shapes with a cookie cutter and make a hole through each with a kebab stick.
Leave to set fully, separate the shapes and thread a pre-waxed wick through each.
Dip each candle in coloured melted wax seven or eight times, then trim the wicks. Float in water with flowers, in the bath or in the pool.

Once you have made your floating candles, here are a few ways to get a great result and put your own spin on it.

Match your wick to the container width: too small and it tunnels, too large and it smokes.
Add fragrance at around 60C so the scent binds properly into the wax.
On the first light, let the melt pool reach the edges before blowing it out, it prevents tunnelling later.
