How to Make a Gel Candle

Gel candles burn slowly and look stunning with layers, colour and decorations suspended inside. This easy recipe from The Soap Barn uses simple candle making supplies.

What you will need

• Gel wax
• Glass vase or jar
• Wick and sustainers
• Candle fragrance
• Candle colouring

Method

1. Cut your wick to size. Melt the gel wax in a pot over very low heat until it runs like water.
2. Dip the wick in the gel, fasten the sustainer and position it in the middle of the glass.
3. Add fragrance and a drop of colouring to the melted gel, then pour into the glass.
4. Leave to set. Gel candles burn for ages and fill the room with scent.
