Coconut Oil

Coconut oil, a soap-making and skincare favourite. In soap it is the one that brings the big, bubbly lather and a hard, cleansing bar. Botanical name Cocos nucifera.

In soap. Most recipes use it as a substantial part of the oil blend, balanced against softer oils. Used at very high percentages it makes a bar that can feel stripping, so pair it with a conditioning oil or butter.

Elsewhere. Balms, body butters, scrubs, melt and pour additions and hair makes.

Working with it. It is solid at cooler room temperatures and liquid when warm, so warm the container gently and stir before measuring so your batch is consistent.
