How to Make an Ice Lantern Candle

An ice lantern candle has a beautiful holey, glowing effect created using ice cubes, easier than it looks. This easy recipe from The Soap Barn uses simple candle making supplies.

What you will need

• White powder candle wax
• Candle dyes
• Candle mould or PVC cylinder
• Tin foil
• Wick and sustainers
• Ice cubes

Method

1. Melt your wax gently. Seal the bottom of your cylinder with tin foil.
2. Dip and set your wick, attach a sustainer and position it in the middle of the cylinder.
3. Pack ice cubes all around the inside edge, away from the wick.
4. Pour the melted wax over the ice to the top and leave to set (stand it in the basin as the ice melts off). Unmould and open up the holes for a lantern effect.
