How to Make Melt and Pour Soap

Melt and pour soap is the easiest way to make your own soap at home, no caustic chemicals, just melt, add your scent and colour, and pour. Perfect for beginners, kids and gifts. An easy recipe from The Soap Barn using simple soap making supplies.

What you will need

• Glycerine (melt and pour) soap base
• Soap fragrance
• Soap colouring
• A soap mould
• Spraying alcohol

Method

1. Cut the soap base into small cubes so it melts evenly.
2. Melt gently in the microwave in short bursts (or in a double boiler) until just liquid, do not let it boil.
3. Stir in your fragrance and a few drops of soap colouring.
4. Pour into your mould and spritz the top with spraying alcohol to pop any bubbles. Leave to set for about an hour, then pop out of the mould.
