How to Make an Orange and Lemon Candle
11 June 2026A fun, colourful gel candle in a glass vase filled with sweets and scented like little pink candies.
What you will need
- Gel wax
- Glass vase
- Wick and sustainers
- Kebab stick
- Romance fragrance
- Sweets (jelly beans, mini liquorice allsorts and the like)
Method
- Cut your wick to size. Melt the gel wax over very low heat until it runs like water.
- Dip the wick in the gel and hold it up to set straight, then fasten a sustainer to the bottom.
- Position the wick in the centre of the vase (a little prestik under the sustainer helps) and tie the top to a kebab stick resting across the rim.
- Add Romance fragrance to the melted gel.
- Arrange your sweets around the inside of the vase, then pour in the melted gel.
- Leave to set. Tip: for a bigger flame, plait three strands of wick before dipping.

Tips & variations
Once you have made your gel candy candle, here are a few ways to get a great result and put your own spin on it.
- Heat gel wax slowly and pour into a warmed container if you want a crystal-clear, bubble-free finish.
- Use only gel-approved fragrance and dye so the wax stays clear and burns safely.
- Cure your candles for 24 to 48 hours before lighting so the scent settles and the burn is cleaner.
Make it your own: swap the fragrance for any scent in our range, or add a touch of candle dye for a different look.
